Cut Red Tape OHIO!

Kristina Roegner, Ohio State Senator, saw a massive problem in her beloved state of Ohio. The state’s regulatory burden was stifling innovation, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and Ohio communities from moving forward.

In 2011 Chief Executive, ranked Ohio 41rd in the nation on their Best and Worst States for Business list. Red Tape was hampering Ohio’s competitiveness and prosperity potential for individual Ohioans.

According to the Mercatus Center the Ohio regulatory rolls comprised of 264,852 Restrictions, 15.2 Million words, and would take someone 21 weeks to read all the regulations. No one has time for that!

In the 2021-2022, 134th General Assembly, policy champion. Sen. Kristina Roegner, introduced SB 9—The Red Tape Reduction Act—to cut 30% of Ohio’s regulatory red tap over three years.

Americas for Prosperity Foundation wants to see a regulatory environment where individuals thrive through economic freedom.

Seeing the problem in Ohio and the attempt at a solution from Sen Kristina Roegner, our sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Ohio, went to work mobilizing the grassroots Ohioans to ensure their government passed SB 9. And they did!

An empowering, bottom-up feature of The  Red Tape Reduction Act, is the creation of CutRedTape.Ohio.Gov.

Any Ohioan can now alert their government of specific regulations that are outdated, redundant, inhibiting their ability to be entrepreneurial, or hampering the path to prosperity for all.

CutRedTape.Ohio.Gov empowers the people of Ohio to be active participants in sensible regulatory reform from the bottom-up.

The economy is working in Ohio when the people can take action to ease the regulatory burden and pursue a path to prosperity.

To top it off, as of 2024, Chief Executive now ranks Ohio at 11 on their Best and Worst States for Business list. See? It’s working.
