The U.S. Census Bureau released a report that showed poverty has only decreased 0.2% since 1966—even after the United States spent at least $22 trillion on the “War on Poverty.” Still, less than half of all Americans believe that free enterprise is better at lifting people out of poverty than the government (Legatum Institute).
